A Chat with… Alison (Member)
Brood joined Link Spaces only a few months ago but they have been a big part of the community here.
Particularly Ali, who is a big voice within the company and our space, as is her office intern, Honey.
Focusing on her team and building the client relationships the company needs to thrive, Ali has an integral role within the business, and we are excited for her to answer some of our questions and find out more about one of the heads of such a vibrant, creative company.
Tell us a bit about your role.
I’m a Director at Brood, a creative agency that specialises in health and wellness. In my role, I oversee our client services department, ensuring outstanding client experience and the delivery of bold innovative creative campaigns that transform healthcare products into recognised brands.
I focus on building strong, collaborative client relationships and leading our amazing teams to develop and execute multi-channel campaigns for both healthcare professionals and consumers, that consistently deliver results that exceed client expectations.
I love my job because every day is different. You never know what’s coming next! It keeps me inspired, challenged, and always on my toes.
How did you get into what you are doing now?
I always loves science, and I did a degree in Chemistry. After university, my first role was working for a global clinical trial company. Big corporate world was not for me (and neither was clinical trial data!) and I wanted to do something more creative, in a smaller business, where I could make a real difference – and that’s how I ended up working in healthcare advertising over 20 years ago and have never looked back!
What do you think sets your company apart from your competitors?
At Brood for us its personal. We only work on brands that matter to us. Brands we believe in and have a personal connection to. Because this drives everything we do. It lets us live and breathe every brand we work on, immersing ourselves from head to toe. That depth of engagement brings passion, sharper insights, richer storytelling, and creative that resonates on a truly human level. Because when it’s personal, it’s powerful. And this how we make a difference.
What advice would you give to someone starting out in the industry?
My advice would be to grab every opportunity you can, to get involved and say yes to everything; to learn as much as you can from the people around you and throw yourself fully into solving problems. Challenge yourself — you never know what you can achieve until you try.
And you’ve got to want it.
What is your go-to productivity hack?
It has to be ChatGPT at the moment — it saves me so much time with looking for insights into different markets and audiences, and gaining understanding of disease areas in simple, clear terms.
What’s your favourite thing about working at Link Spaces?
Whilst it’s really great to have our own office space to be together as a team, I like being amongst other people and other businesses – and feeling like part of a wider community at Link Spaces. And the lady who comes and sells brownies!!
What has been your biggest and proudest achievement?
I’m prouder than anything to be raising two amazing, head strong children — seeing them achieve their goals, especially when it’s things they think they can’t do, makes me feel an unparalleled sense of pride and achievement.
What is the one app you can’t live without?
At the moment, I love my Whoop fitness app – I use it every day to make sure I’m on track. And I can’t be without Instagram!
If you could have lunch with any three people, dead or alive, who would they be and why?
That’s a tough question that I am struggling to answer and choose. I would have to say George Michael because he was one of my childhood popstar heroes. Second, I was going to say David Beckham, but I think David Bowie, because no one embodied fearless creativity and reinvention like him. He understood how to build a brand that constantly evolved. And thirdly, is a very current thing, but comedian Paul Smith, because he makes me laugh (and he’s a Scouser like me) – dinner would be fun with him!
