A Chat with… Nicole (Member)
Meet Nicole – the inspiration female boss behind NV Clinics, her own thriving beauty business, specialising in permanent makeup and lashes. Not only has she built her brand from the ground up, but she’s done it while raising her daughter and while working in her maybe more corporate job. Known throughout Link Spaces for her expertise, warm personality, and absolute passion for her craft, Nicole is the go-to person for beauty advice or simply a friendly chat. In this interview, she shares her journey, the challenges she’s overcome, and her wisdom for anyone looking to turn their dreams into reality.

Tell us a bit about your role – Favourite part of the job, what you do on the day-to-day etc.
Honestly, my favourite part of the job is the people I meet every day. It’s such a rewarding experience to have clients put their trust in me, and there’s nothing better than seeing their excitement and confidence after their treatment. Whether it’s enhancing their natural beauty with lip blush or giving them effortlessly beautiful lashes with extensions, every appointment is unique, and I love being part of that transformation.
Day-to-day, my work involves a mix of consultations, treatments, and aftercare support. I take time to understand each client’s needs and tailor their permanent make-up or lash extensions experience to what suits them best. Plus, I’m always learning and refining my skills, whether through advanced training or staying updated with industry trends. It’s a career that keeps me on my toes, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
How did you get into what you’re doing now?
I’ve been in the beauty world for a long time—since I was 19! But funny enough, my journey didn’t start there. I was working full-time in sales, and while it was a great experience, I quickly realised it just wasn’t for me. I wanted to do something I was truly passionate about, so I decided to go back to college in the evenings to study beauty.
At first, it was my side hustle—something I genuinely looked forward to doing after work and on weekends. Fast forward to now, and I’ve built a career in PMU and beauty that I absolutely love. It’s been a journey, but I wouldn’t change a thing!
What inspired you to start your own company?
Beauty had been my side hustle for well over a decade while I worked in procurement, earned my business studies degree, and travelled extensively for work. Despite my busy schedule, I always made time for my loyal clients, learning new beauty skills, and even finding the time to look after myself—life felt balanced with minimal responsibilities.
But everything changed when I had my daughter. Suddenly, I realised that the balance I once had wouldn’t be the same, especially while working for someone else. My passion for procurement had faded, constant travel no longer appealed to me, and with Covid disrupting everything, it became clear—I needed to take control of my own balance.
That’s when it all clicked. I decided to reignite my love for beauty, not just by setting up my own company, but by taking it a step further—training in aesthetics and specialising in permanent makeup. It was the best decision I ever made, and I haven’t looked back since!
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given—both personally and professionally—is that everyone is a beginner at some point. Mastering a skill takes time, patience, and practice, and it’s something that needs to be nurtured.
This advice has helped me be kinder to myself when learning something new. Personally, I love to dance, but I can get self-conscious when I can’t pick up a routine right away. Professionally, I’m still figuring out how to navigate social media to build my brand and visibility—it’s a work in progress!
Reminding myself that growth comes with time has been so valuable. No one starts as an expert, but as long as you stay consistent and keep learning, you’ll get there.
What is your proudest achievement to date? This could be personal or professional achievement.
Honestly, it might be cliché, but without a doubt, my proudest achievement is my daughter. Watching her grow into such a kind, funny, and confident little girl makes me prouder than anything else.
On top of that, I’m really chuffed that I’ve built a career and business that gives me the flexibility to be there for her—whether it’s school drop-offs, pick-ups, or making sure I never miss a school play. Creating that balance between work and motherhood has been a real achievement for me, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
What sets your company apart from others in the industry?
Oh gosh, the beauty and aesthetics industry is so saturated these days! There are many incredibly talented professionals who have truly earned their craft through in-depth study, hands-on practice, and real dedication. But, on the flip side, there are just as many who jump into it after a quick one-day course, with no real foundational beauty qualifications— and that’s risky!
What sets NV Clinics apart is my commitment to professionalism, safety, and continuous learning. The industry may be largely unregulated, but I make sure to research my training providers, obtain industry-standard qualifications, carry full insurance, and invest in ongoing education to stay up to date. My clients trust me not just because of my skill, but because they know I genuinely care about delivering safe, high-quality treatments with the best possible results.
What advice would you give to anyone starting out in your industry?
My biggest piece of advice? Do your research! Make sure you choose reputable training providers and obtain industry-recognised qualifications because regulations are changing, and soon, you’ll need the right credentials to treat clients legally.
Beyond that, take your time to build your skills properly—don’t rush into offering treatments after a one-day course. This industry is all about precision, safety, and client trust, so invest in high-quality training, keep learning, and always put your clients’ well-being first. That’s what will set you apart in the long run!
What are the biggest challenges you have faced?
One of the biggest challenges I faced was finding the right space to work from—somewhere that truly aligned with my branding, values, and offered flexibility as a new business. It wasn’t easy, but I stayed patient and persistent and look where I ended up—Link Spaces in Botanica! It turned out to be the perfect fit, and I couldn’t be happier.
What is your favourite thing about working at Link Spaces? (This will go on our blog and not in the newsletter)
One of my favourite things about Link Spaces is how friendly and welcoming everyone is—both the members and the staff! While I spend most of my day with clients, my work can still feel quite solitary at times. Being able to step out into the co-working space, have a quick chat with you and Suki, or just be around like-minded professionals makes such a huge positive impact on my day. It’s a great balance of independence and community, and I love that!
If you could have dinner with any 3 people, dead or alive, who would they be and why?
Oh, this is a tough one! But if I had to choose, I’d go with:
Dave Chappelle – The man is a comedic genius! I just know I’d leave that dinner in stitches, feeling lighter and happier. His way of blending humour with deep, thought-provoking insights is unmatched.
Mel Robbins – I’m currently listening to her audiobook Let Them, and I have so many questions! Her perspective on mindset and personal growth is so powerful, and I’d love to pick her brain over dinner.
Professor Brian Cox – I’m fascinated by science, especially space, but I sometimes struggle to fully grasp the concepts. He has this incredible ability to break down really complex ideas in a way that makes sense. I’d probably just sit there in awe, absorbing everything he says!
